this morning we were in oklahoma city. we left the hotel and went by the oklahoma memorial. wow it was amazing. we didnt go into the museum, just stayed outside where the memorial is. im glad we stopped by. after that we got on the road and went through the rest of oklahoma, a lil bit of texas and now in albuquerque new mexico. once we hit the desert the trip seemed to really start to drag. but i must say the desert can be just as pretty as the large trees and grass. we also went by a cool lil route 66 museum. route 66 runs parallel with interstate 40 so we drove on it for about 10-15 minutes for the hell of it.

now we are in for the night and will make it to arizona by tomorrow evening. the time has changed on us twice. its weird driving into a state and the time changes. we gain an hour…kinda cool. alright folks…time to relax!!! day 5 will begin in the morning. goodnight

memphis to oklahoma city

we left the hotel this morning in memphis and went by graceland. drove by and saw a quick place to park the uhaul to take a few snap shots from outside. it was cool to know that thats where elvis lived. so on the road through arkansas and on to oklahoma. the land was alot flatter than virginia & tennessee. as we got into oklahoma we noticed how beautiful the sky was. it was clear with big white clouds…amazing! all of a sudden it started to sprinkle, then rain, then thunder/lightning, then fast winds. holy shit i thought the uhaul was going to flip over. it was crazy. tornados??? isnt this where tornados happen? hell yeah they do. we pulled over under a bridge like many other people and waited a good 20 min. after it calmed down we found a close hotel. so here for the night & back at it in the morning. i think we will be in los angeles by sunday evening. we are in no hurry…no time limit on this trip but im thinking sunday we will be home

tennessee

tennessee is a loooooong state! wow we drove pretty much all of it today. left this morning at 8am. we were still in virginia and had about 130 miles to go til we got to TN. so we made it through knoxville, nashville and now we are relaxing for the night in memphis. tomorrow morning we will be back at it. arkansas and oklahoma are next. i cant tell you how many protein bars and cups of coffee i have had so far on this trip. we went to the grocery store this evening. so we are good on food tonight & some of tomorrow. i dont know how people do it…travel all the time and eating out. i am craving to go to the gym and do like an hour of cardio & lift some weights not to mention eating healthier. everything is thrown off right now but its cool….its for a good cause. gotta do whatcha gotta do!!!

yesterday we spent all day loading up the uhaul. it did take all damn day too. even though we dont have a ton of stuff it was just the two of us moving everything. also having to use an elevator takes more time too. but its all done and we left first thing this morning. drove for about 11 hours and now we are chillin in virginia. tomorrow we will continue the journey through tennessee and maybe just maybe a lil bit of arkansas. so far so good. the weather is nice, not alot of traffic and peanut has been a great lil navigator lol. oh and tolls….make sure you plan on paying tolls and have some cash. we spent about $33 in tolls so far. oh well…gotta keep the highways nice!!! alright well after a long day in the uhaul im ready to shower & relax in front of the TV. catch you guys later….goodnight xoxo

packing & more packing….

getting things packed away, cleaned and in order for the big road trip and move west to Los Angeles California baby!!! the apartment looks like a big explosion of boxes, bags and stuff everywhere. its pretty crazy knowing that tomorrow morning we will be packing up the u-haul and leaving this apartment empty for the renter to move in. i got to meet him today as a matter of fact when he came by to pick up some keys. so tomorrow we will pack up the u-haul, clean up the apartment all spic and span then head over to our dear friend sylvia’s house in brooklyn for the night and hit the asphalt by 7am tuesday morning….what a ride it will be.

when i came to nyc 2.5 yrs ago there was so much excitement. more than i could ever imagine. its hard to believe there could be anything more than nyc but i know this change is going to be good. im looking forward to it most definately and im looking forward to coming back to nyc to visit from time to time. knowing that i am not leaving for good is soothing.

so with all that said and done…peanut, timothy & i are more than ready to let this new adventure begin. back to my roots….california girl.

the F Word!

friday night timothy & i went to a party at splash here in nyc…called The F Word. great name for a party huh? haha!! it was alot of fun since it was kinda like a going away party for us before we head out for the big move to cali. i cannot believe in 6 days we will be on the road!!! time is flying by now.

yesterday i had a photoshoot with brian moss of shemuscle. looking forward to seeing the pics since he is one of my favorite photographers. i love his artistic style he portrays through photography. i wanted to shoot with him before i leave the east coast since im not sure when i will get to have the chance again.

well it is another rainy day here in the city. it has been raining off and on for the last 4 days or so. its starting to cool off alot too. we are leaving at the perfect time. im so glad i will be missing out on this years winter in nyc! hell yeah!

today i went to check out this gallery here in nyc that is featuring the work of martin schoeller who is known for his portraits. he has a huge collection of female bodybuilders. these portraits capture the female bodybuilder at their peak condition. ripped, tanned & made up. basically looking like they do when they step on stage. its reality at its best i think. when you diet for a bodybuilding show not only does your physique change but so does your face. it gets lean and hard just like the body. some can play it off better than others. ive seen some that look very drawn in and some that look as pretty as they did before they dieted down. its just part of competing. anyways….it was very interesting to go into the gallery and see these photographs up close & personal. another wonderful thing about living in nyc….taking advantage of all the amazing art galleries around. here is the gallery where the work is featured…Hasted Hunt Kraeutle

hiking at Minnewaska State Park

yesterday timothy & i went on a day hike upstate NY to Minnewaska State Park. it was a cool day, not too humid and was nice to get away from the city for a bit. we hiked for a total of about 8 miles. by the end of the day my legs & feet were feeling it. it was good cardio though and you better believe i took the day off from the gym yesterday lol.

on another note….15 more days til we are outta here! road trip to the west will begin! oh yeah!!!!!

as timothy & i are getting closer to the big move west we are trying to enjoy the last couple weeks in nyc while anxiously awaiting the road trip to cali. its refreshing to know that we are not leaving nyc for good. timothy owns this apartment so we are subletting it out with dreams of being bi-coastal. gotta dream big right? hell yeah you do!!!

so the packing has already begun, boxes stacking up and we marking off things on the check list. im looking forward to less humidity, milder winters, more space, little more laid back atmosphere & most of all being closer to my family.

18 days from today we will be on the road….
